Academy FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Academy and how to use it

What is the AlphaTRADER Academy?

A free educational library covering the seven analytical layers used inside the platform: Pattern Engine, COT positioning, Volume Profile, Sentiment, Seasonality, Order Flow (OANDA Books), and the Morning Brief. Each lesson explains theory, failure modes, and how the layer connects to Wyckoff method.

Is the Academy free?

Yes — every lesson is fully accessible without a subscription or login. The goal is to elevate trader literacy, not gate-keep concepts that have been public for decades.

Do I need a trading account or platform subscription to learn?

No. The Academy is standalone educational content. You can apply the concepts on any chart, any broker, any timeframe — the AlphaTRADER dashboard simply automates the data work for those who prefer not to compute it manually.

What is Wyckoff method and why does the Academy reference it?

Wyckoff is a century-old framework for reading markets through accumulation, mark-up, distribution, and mark-down phases — driven by composite-operator (smart money) intent. The seven layers we teach map directly onto Wyckoff phases: COT/Sentiment reveal positioning, Pattern Engine detects structure, Volume Profile shows commitment, Seasonality times the cycle.

Which lesson should I start with?

If you are new to systematic trading: start with Pattern Engine (entry mechanics) and Sentiment (crowd psychology). If you already trade discretionarily: start with COT and Volume Profile to add institutional context to your reads.

Are the lessons platform-specific or universally applicable?

Universally applicable. We strip platform documentation from lessons by design — the focus is concepts, math, and the why. You will not find AlphaTRADER button-click instructions; you will find the underlying market logic any tool would use.

How does seasonality differ from technical analysis?

Technical analysis reads what price has done. Seasonality measures what price tends to do at this time of year, decade, or election cycle — a probabilistic prior that informs bias before any chart pattern triggers. Both stack: high-probability seasonality + clean pattern = strongest setup.
